Defex returns to Poker Flat Records with a monster of a track

SPREAD THE WORD ON SOCIALS

Born and raised in rural Lower Bavaria, far from big‑city influences, Defex sculpted his path from remote cart‑tracks to the international dance‑music Autobahn.

His sound spans deep house roots to dark techno heights, and his ethos centres on pushing the concept of DJing to its limits. Defex cut his teeth through residencies and event‑promotion: co‑founding the famed The Zoo Project Ibiza, creating underground club nights in Bavaria and Vienna, and releasing on respected labels such as Moon Harbour Recordings and Terminal M.

The story behind this latest cut: Defex sent an instrumental track to Steve Bug’s Poker Flat, the driving bassline already giving it the working title “Zaxndi” – a local Bavarian slang roughly translating to “what the hell”. Bug instantly signed it but suggested a male vocal might elevate it further. Defex called in Maniac, one of Bavaria’s most distinctive rappers, who delivered razor‑sharp verses full of playful word‑twists – including a lyrical spin on “rash giving”, meaning decisive like an allergy.

The result is a ferocious hybrid: raw house‑energy, a mad bassline and fearless rap. A track that balances club‑ready intensity with wild charisma. For DJs wanting direct floor‑tools, the instrumental version provides exactly that. Grab a copy here
