Global Underground Confirms THIRTY Compilation
Global Underground Commissions 30 New Tracks For September 2026 Release
Global Underground, announces the release of a 30-track compilation album titled THIRTY in September 2026. The milestone project commemorates the imprint’s 30th anniversary with exclusive material from 30 contemporary artists. The physical and digital release includes contributions from Guy J, Nicky Elisabeth, and Spencer Brown, alongside a collaboration between Nadia Ali and Frankey & Sandrino.
Key Takeaways
Global Underground Label Origins and Evolution
Andy Horsfield established Global Underground in 1996 to capture the live atmosphere of electronic music sets in international locations. Prior to the label’s launch, club culture predominantly treated disc jockeys as anonymous figures operating in dark, strictly functional environments. Global Underground fundamentally shifted this dynamic by placing the DJ at the centre of the marketing and audio experience.
The label pioneered the concept of recording long-form DJ sets in specific global cities and releasing them as premium physical products. This systematic documentation strategy directly contributed to the rapid commercial expansion of DJ culture throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, turning working selectors into international touring artists.
To mark this 30-year operational history, the imprint opted against compiling a retrospective catalogue release. Instead, A&R teams commissioned entirely new audio from a curated selection of active producers, ensuring the final tracklist reflects current club frequencies rather than historical nostalgia.
Global Underground THIRTY Physical Formats
The THIRTY release targets physical media collectors and streaming audiences simultaneously. Consumers access the music through standard digital downloads and streaming platforms, alongside three distinct physical configurations. The primary compact disc edition packages all 30 tracks into two continuous DJ mixes.
Vinyl consumers have access to a standard 3x 12-inch heavyweight coloured vinyl package, housed in a gatefold sleeve. The label also offers an expanded Collector’s Edition. This premium tier supplies the 30 tracks unmixed across five 12-inch vinyl records, the two CD formats, and undisclosed bonus content.
Company founder Andy Horsfield detailed the creative process behind the anniversary project:
“Three decades ago, when I came up with the crazy idea of representing the true nature of global underground DJ culture by launching the GU label, I could never have imagined that we would have been fortunate enough to experience such a long and storied history that we have. With the release of our landmark anniversary THIRTY album I was determined to look forward not back, so we set about commissioning 30 brand new exclusive pieces of music from 30 of our favourite contemporary electronic artists.”
Global Underground issues THIRTY across digital, streaming, and physical vinyl formats on Friday 25 September 2026.
