Sapphist Eye is a DJ since 2018 and began producing electronic music in 2021. A fan of new beat and techno sounds, she’s set to drop here new EP on Lumière Noire Records this week

Here she shares her favourite Parisian hangouts

Eat

Bombance is a French bistronomic restaurant in the centre of Paris with amazing wines and seasonal, exquisite food.

For cheap eats, try Paris Féni, a delicious French-Bangladeshi restaurant.

If you want to experience fine dining, try Korus on Chemin Vert. You’ll find creative and delicious dishes, as well as an assortment of food and wine.

Drink

One of my favourite bars is A la Folie Paris, which is also a club! There is a club inside, as well as a bar and a big outdoor seating area where you can enjoy beers and cocktails, good food and pétanque, an emblematic sport from the south of France.

Another bar is Los Franchutes, you’ll find good beers, atypical cocktails, with a warm ambience and slightly loud music.

If you’re after a good coffee or tea, Chambelland (Oberkampf) is a great option. It’s a bakery where you can also enjoy delicious gluten-free pastries and meals. You can sit inside for hours or, if the weather is good, on the pleasant terrace.

Party

Le Rex Club is an iconic club in the centre of Paris, where you can experience the best of the local and international electronic music scenes.

Le Trabendo (La Villette) is a club and concert hall with legendary live music and is also a great place to go clubbing.

La Station – Gare des Mines (Aubervilliers), formerly a coal station, is now a club and concert venue hosting mainly queer collectives and artists.

Other clubs worth visiting include La Machine du Moulin Rouge, Le Cabaret Sauvage, Le Badaboum and Virage.

Chill

Le Hasard Ludique (Porte de Saint-Ouen) is a great place to relax with fresh drinks and cheap food. It’s a former “petite ceinture” railway station where nature has reclaimed the tracks and vegetation grows amongst the deckchairs.

La RECyclerie (Porte de Clignancourt) is another place with the same vibe, where eco-responsibility is the rule. It’s open from late morning and is quiet during the day, offering coffees and other hot drinks. You can enjoy the outside terrace when the weather is good.

We can also mention Le Sample (Bagnolet), which has a large outdoor area.

Le Parc des Buttes Chaumont is a large park in the north-east of Paris where many locals like to spend their afternoons and summer evenings. Reputed to be the most romantic park in the capital, it offers magnificent views. You will also find Le Rosa Bonheur there, a ‘guinguette’ that invites you to party when you’ve had enough of relaxing!

Visit

Take a walk and get lost in the 20th and 11th arrondissements of Paris, from Oberkampf to Ménilmontant. This area is very pleasant, with lots of pedestrian streets, bars, restaurants, street art and bookshops.

If you like hiking, you can take a regional train to the beautiful Parc Naturel de la Vallée de la Chevreuse for a walk.

Best things to do while you’re there

In my opinion, one of the best record shops in Paris is Dizonord in North Paris. If you’re a keen collector, this is the place to find all kinds of music, including electronic.

As the name suggests, Techno Import (Bastille) is another place where you’ll find a huge selection of techno vinyl and its derivatives.

If you like museums, you should visit the Montmartre Museum, which is just a stone’s throw from the Sacré-Coeur and has a magnificent, quiet garden and excellent collections.

And, of course, the Pompidou Museum is an institution for art lovers. The view of Paris from the top of the museum is amazing!

Sapphist Eye’s new EP is out July 4th
