SLANDER on Arcane Records With New Techno Alias ‘Before Dawn’
Los Angeles-based long-time friends Derek Anderson and Scott Land, known together as SLANDER, have dominated the bass music landscape for over a decade.
With continuous smash records, sold-out shows, and a non-stop touring schedule, they’ve stayed at the forefront of the genre’s evolution. Their discography now spans over 50 releases.
In 2022, they released a single titled ‘Before Dawn’, marking a clear departure from their usual sound. That evolution became fully realized in 2023 with the launch of their new techno-inspired alias: Before Dawn.
Rather than signaling a shift away from SLANDER, Before Dawn represents a bold new creative outlet. The project debuted during select after-hours sets, including their own Starbase Festival in Southern California, with standout performances at Burning Man, EDC Las Vegas, Space Miami, and The Midway SF. The alias was formally introduced with a sunrise set at EDC Las Vegas in May 2023 and most recently sold out the official Project Glow afterparty at Soundcheck in May 2025.
Derek and Scott are now gearing up to release their debut EP as Before Dawn. Titled ‘Reborn EP’, it lands on Eli Brown’s Arcane Records on August 1st. A remix pack is set to follow in September, featuring reworks from Victor Ruiz, Charles D, and NoNameLeft.
