Amidst a backdrop of global uncertainty and turmoil, Berlin-based music producer STACY.O and Ukrainian poet Марія Степанюк have come together to share their message of peace in a subtle and heartfelt manner through their latest release, “ОДИН” (meaning ‘one’ in English).

“ОДИН” seeks to evoke a profound sense of unity, resilience, and a longing for peace during these turbulent times. Through its measured, percussive sounds, the project navigates the delicate balance between dance and introspection, creating an immersive sonic landscape that resonates with the soul.

The collaboration between STACY.O and Марія Степанюк was facilitated through a free-flowing exchange of ideas, field recordings, and poetry, all conducted digitally due to the current situation in Ukraine. Remarkably, despite the physical barriers, their synergy remained undisturbed. The only significant challenge they encountered was their inability to perform live together.

Speaking about the situation in Ukraine, Марія Степанюк shared, “Our songs reflect my personal boundaries, a new kind of humanity armed with safety and dark humor, while also illustrating the indomitable spirit of the Kharkiv community.” The visually striking artwork for ‘ОДИН’ was crafted by STACY.O’s brother, Stephen Cacique, continuing a cherished family tradition.

In alignment with the EP’s poignant message, STACY.O and Марія Степанюk have chosen to use their platform to raise funds for volunteers actively aiding the people of Ukraine, demonstrating their unwavering support for the Ukrainian community.

All proceeds from digital and vinyl sales on Bandcamp, as well as poster sales of the EP artwork, will be directed to Ukrainian musicians NFNR and Lenoczka, who have been volunteering and fundraising to provide essential supplies for the Ukrainian relief effort since the onset of the Russian full-scale invasion.

Additionally, the release of ‘ОДИН’ will include a music video directed by Kharkiv-based multidisciplinary artist, Lenoczka (Lena Dzhurina), known for her abstract rhythmic live sets. Her unique perspective enhances the emotional impact of the project.

Through the release of ‘ОДИН,’ STACY.O and Марія Степанюк extend an invitation to their listeners to reflect, resonate, and respond to the tumultuous state of the world today, emphasizing the resilience of art and humanity in the face of adversity.
