ADE Special: Parallelle Share Their Favourite Amsterdam Hangouts

Parallelle are two Amsterdam-based brothers from the south of France. Multi-instrumentalists, composers, producers and label owners, their music cuts across electronica, electro-jazz and underground dance music.

Places to eat

Our favourite place at the moment is Corner Store in Noord, they have such a nice set menu, regular Djs playing on vinyls, a great artistic lighting and a great vibe.

A great ambiance place is the Foodhallen, a spacious caverne with high ceilings and loads food trucks from around the world. They have bands playing on weekends and a massive bar in the middle creating such a nice sharing experience.

Our favourite routine is going to the Noordermarkt during Week Ends, getting our fresh local vegetables and fruits. There are many different street food stands but our two favorites are the fresh mushrooms sandwiches and the Japanese stand that does amazing Onigiri triangles.

Best places to drink

We spend most of our time at the Soho House Amsterdam and we love the bar they have upstairs. A Picante is always good to start your weekend.

Kikie, in the Joordan is always nice bar to go after dinner.

Bom Boa by the Amstel river has the last sun rays of the day and is a great place for sunset drinks.

For coffee, Black Gold is a great coffee place and record store and its owner Siebrand has curated some of the best jazz and hiphop records.

Wandu is also an amazing place run by welcoming Brazilian. The place is minimalistic and has features a gallery downstairs with a monthly curation of upcoming artist.

Best Places to Party

We have to be honest that we are usually not here on weekends and when we are, we usually take the time to relax and enjoy the city by day.

There is this new intimate club where we had a great time was Yellow House, its free entry and always has nice artists.

Thuishaven is always great, especially during summer. This whole year long festival type space with several different stages always bring the top artists.

DGTL is always our go-to festival, with the best line-up, art installation, production while keeping the festival extremely sustainable.

Other places to visit

Fosbury & Sons, it’s a co-working space on the Prinsengracht where we spend most of our time, and [drum rolls] we have built a beautiful recording studio there, so all for the musicians and producer out there, don’t hesitate to reach out if you want to use it.

We recommend visiting NXT, a new media art museum having large scale multi sensory exhibitions.

We like going to record stores on Sundays and getting lost in time listening to music. We like to go to Rush Hour, Black Gold and Bordelo a Parigi.

There are so many nice parc in town, but Amstelpark has a maze inside, and a lot of botanical areas.
